The coating is formed with a solution of iron, zinc or manganese phosphate salts in phosphoric acid, and is applied either by spraying the solution onto the substrate or by immersing the substrate into the solution. WebThe application of phosphate coatings makes use of phosphoric acid and takes advantage of the low solubility of phosphates in medium or high pH solutions. Iron, zinc or manganese phosphate salts are dissolved in a solution of phosphoric acid.
